How to Save Photos on Flickr: A Step-by-Step Tutorial

Do you ever come across a stunning photograph on Flickr that you just have to download, only to find out that the owner has disabled downloading of their photographs? It can be frustrating, but luckily there is a workaround. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to download restricted images off of Flickr to your desktop.

First, navigate to Flickr.com and search for the photographer or image you want to download. For this example, we’ll be using the Car Hotel Photography page. Once you’ve found the image you want, click on it. If the owner has disabled downloading, you won’t see a download button. Instead, click on the “large” option, which will give you the highest resolution version of the photograph available.

Next, right-click on the image and click “inspect element.” This will bring up a complicated-looking area, but don’t worry – it’s not as intimidating as it seems. Hit Command+F (Mac) or Control+F (Windows) and type in “.jpg” (the file extension for JPEG). This should bring up a link that says “one of two” or “one of a couple.” Click on the link and hit “open in new tab.”

If the first link isn’t the highest resolution version of the photograph, scroll down and click on the next link until you find the one with the resolution you want. Right-click on the link and hit “open in new tab.” This will bring up the high-resolution image. Right-click on the image and hit “save image as” to save it to your desktop.

And that’s it – you now have a beautiful photograph saved to your desktop in high resolution! Note that this method works best in Google Chrome; it may not work in other browsers such as Safari or Firefox.
