Using Gmail on desktop at night times can be sometimes straining to the eye due to the white background. If you are using your Gmail app or your Gmail web on your desktop at night times for work purposes or for something else, it can be annoying. In this tutorial, we will show you how to turn on the dark mode on your Gmail in the web browser.
To accomplish this, open your favorite web browser that you use on your daily basis on your computer or on your Mac, we recommend using Google Chrome. Once you have opened your Gmail, click on the settings icon over there, and there will be an option called themes. Click on the themes, and there will be a lot of image-based themes and a lot of color-based themes that are present on this Gmail theme selection option.
You can also select a favorite picture of yours and set it as the theme for this Gmail on your web browser as well if you want. But to turn on the dark mode, scroll down to the themes options, and there will be a “Dark” theme. Click on it, and you can see the preview in the background. Once you’ve chosen the dark mode, click on save, and then refresh the page. Wait till the page gets refreshed, and the dark theme gets successfully applied everywhere.
As you can see, the whole Gmail interface on your web browser has been turned successfully into dark mode. Everywhere you go, the social, the promotion, whatever tabs you have, such as your drafts, your sent items, your spam, the trash, and everywhere else you will have this pitch-dark theme. If you want to compose a mail, it will have the default white background, but the tabs and all will have this dark background.
When you open an individual email, it will have a white background itself, and this mail color will come from the sender itself, but the whole interface of Gmail will successfully turn to dark mode as you can see.
