Gimp is a popular and powerful tool for graphic design and image editing. However, the default theme for Gimp can be a bit bland and unappealing. Luckily, there is a way to give your Gimp installation a fresh, dark look with updated icons.
First, close out of Gimp if it is currently open. Then, open up a file explorer and navigate to the themes folder. On Windows, this can be found by clicking on the C Drive, then Program Files, then Gimp, then Share, and finally the 2.0 folder. For Linux and Mac users, follow the instructions in the video’s description.
Next, download the file linked in the video’s description that contains the new Gimp theme. Once downloaded, extract the zip file and move the folders to the themes folder that was opened earlier. Be sure to have administrator permissions to do so.
Now, open up Gimp and go to edit preferences. Click on the themes option and select the newly installed theme. Close out of Gimp and restart it for the changes to take effect.
With these simple steps, you can give your Gimp installation a sleek, dark look with updated icons. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments. Thanks for reading!
