If you’re a fan of Beat Saber, you might be wondering how to play all the cool custom maps out there. In this tutorial, we’ll show you step-by-step how to install custom songs for Beat Saber on the Quest 2.
First things first, you’ll need to uninstall your current version of Beat Saber and install an older version. The reason for this is that the mods are not up to date with the new version of Beat Saber. Depending on when you’re reading this, the mods may be up to date already, so you can skip this step.
After uninstalling Beat Saber, head over to questmodding.com to download the older version of the game. You’ll need SideQuest to install it, so make sure you download it as well. Also, log into your Oculus account on oculus.com before proceeding.
Once you’ve downloaded the previous version of Beat Saber, plug your headset into the computer and open up SideQuest. Then go to “My Apps” and drag the download file onto the SideQuest logo to install it.
To install custom songs and mods, you’ll need to download and install BMBF. Search for BMBF on SideQuest, and only one option should pop up. Once you’re on the page, scroll down to where it says “Download” and click.
After BMBF is downloaded, unplug your headset and navigate to the “Unknown Sources” section of your Oculus apps. Open BMBF and follow the modding steps within your headset. The patching step can take a little while to complete.
Once it’s done patching, you can install the modded version of Beat Saber. You may be prompted to adjust your settings to allow the installation of unknown apps. When you get to the “Restore App” prompt, make sure to click “Close” instead of “Restore,” then click “Done.”
Now you can finally install custom songs. To find custom songs, click on “Browser” and then navigate to the “Beast Saber” tab. Once here, you can search for any song or map that you’re looking for. Once you find a map you want to play, click on the download button and wait for it to finish.
Once it’s finished downloading, click on “Sync to Beat Saber,” and it will be in the game. Open up Beat Saber, and there it is!
If you want to download more custom songs or mods in the future, just go back to your “Apps” > “Unknown Sources,” click on BMBF, and you’ll be back inside the BMBF tool.
