If you’re an iPhone user who frequently uses Bandcamp, you may have noticed that there’s no longer an option to download music directly to your device. However, there is a way around it, and it’s pretty simple.
First, open the Siri Shortcuts app (which is just called “Shortcuts”) on your iPhone. Download a shortcut called “Download File,” which will be used to download the music file.
Next, open Safari on your iPhone, and request the desktop website. Find the music you want to download and click the download button. Instead of tapping the button, hold down on it and select the “Share” option at the bottom of the menu. From there, select “Download File” from your shortcuts.
After downloading the zip file, you’ll need to use a media player app to play the music. Unfortunately, you cannot add MP3s to your Apple Music library from your phone, but there is a version of VLC (VideoLAN Client) available on the App Store. Though it may not be the original VLC, it’s still a decent media player option for iOS.
Once you have the downloaded zip file and a media player, you’ll be able to enjoy all your Bandcamp music on your iPhone. It’s a simple workaround that may not be as convenient as the previous download option, but it certainly gets the job done.
