Tyler White from Video Editing with Tyler White is here to show you how to create a cross dissolve transition in Adobe Premiere Pro. This transition is used to create a seamless flow between two clips, making it look professional and polished. Cross dissolve is a simple transition, but there are a few steps that need to be taken to ensure it works smoothly.
First, you need to import your clips into Premiere Pro and drag them onto the timeline. Then, go to the editing tab and select the razor tool. Trim off a little bit at the end of clip number one as well as the beginning of clip number two so that the transition will look seamless. Delete the trimmed parts and bring the clips back together.
Next, go to the effects tab and type in “cross dissolve.” Click and drag the cross dissolve transition onto clip 1 and 2. Afterward, double-click on the transition duration box and set it to about one second. The goal should be to make it look seamless, almost as if the viewer didn’t even notice that the dissolved transition even occurred.
It’s important to note that the cross dissolve transition should be used to assist in telling the story. Using too much of it will take away from the story and confuse the viewer. Once you’ve added the transition, play it back to make sure it looks good.
If you come across an error box, it means that you didn’t trim down those clips like Tyler mentioned at the beginning. To fix this, trim down the clips to make it look seamless.
Finally, continue to perfect your skills by practicing and experimenting with different transitions. With these simple steps, you can create a smooth and professional-looking cross dissolve transition in Premiere Pro.
