As one of the most popular social media platforms online, Facebook aims to bring people together. It’s hard to find a better way to unite people with common interests than through Facebook groups. Of course, if you’ve decided to leave a group page behind, Facebook doesn’t force you to stay locked in. No matter your reason, if you’re ready to leave your group on Facebook, here’s how you do it.
If you’re on desktop, open your browser, log into Facebook, then search for the group you want to leave by using the search bar located in the top left corner. Select the group from your search results to load your group page. Then, look for the triple dotted icon in the right near the invite button and choose “Leave Group.” On the confirmation prompt, you can enable the option to prevent people from inviting you into the group again. When you’re all set with your choice, just confirm your option.
If you’re using the app, it’s a similar process. Open the app on your phone and search for the group you want to leave. From the group page, tap on the triple dotted icon in the top right corner. From the tools menu, you’ll find the option to leave the group. Just confirm your choice, and you’ll be out for good.
Now, if you’re concerned some members may be upset at you for leaving, don’t worry. Members won’t be notified when or if you leave a group. Though they can find out if they search the member’s list for your name, no one will be alerted that you’ve exited the group. Likewise, the group should be removed from your group list, and you won’t receive any notifications from the group or have their posts show up on your feed.
Leaving a group on Facebook is a simple process that can be done both on desktop and mobile. Now that you know how, you can leave any group with ease.
