If you are looking to learn how to use breakout rooms inside of the Zoom app, you have come to the right place. Breakout rooms are an advanced feature in Zoom that allows you to have multiple meetings within a bigger meeting. You can assign different people to different rooms, and they can carry out their own separate meeting in a breakout room and then join the big meeting when they’re done.

To activate breakout rooms, you can do it with the paid plan or the free plan; it’s available for both. Follow these steps to activate it:
1. Log into your Zoom account on your laptop.
2. Click on “My Account” and navigate to “Settings.”
3. Under “In-Meeting (Advanced),” look for the option “Breakout Room.”
4. Turn on “Allow host to split meeting participants into separate smaller rooms.”
5. Turn on “Allow host to assign participants to breakout rooms when scheduling.”
6. Save your settings.
Once you have turned on the breakout room feature, you can either create a new meeting or schedule an existing one. When you do, the breakout room option will be available.
Here are the steps to initiate breakout rooms during a meeting:
1. Open the Zoom app on your laptop and start the meeting.
2. Click on “Breakout Rooms” and choose the number of participants per group.
3. You can either do this automatically or manually assign people to groups.
4. Create breakout rooms.
5. You can add multiple rooms by pressing the plus sign and assign multiple participants per group.
6. You can rename the room and assign people to it.
7. Broadcast messages to each group.
8. When the breakout room meeting is over, click “Close All Rooms,” and participants will have 60 seconds to join the main room.
If you want to initiate breakout rooms before the meeting, follow these steps:
1. Log into your Zoom account on your laptop and go to the “Meetings” tab.
2. Schedule a new meeting.
3. Select “Breakout Room Pre-assign” and create rooms.
4. Import participants by using a CSV file or add them manually.
5. Assign participants to the group and pre-assign them to the breakout room.
