If you’re a gamer, you’re probably familiar with the zip format. Most mods for modern games come in the zip format, and all your old school ROMs and retro emulators are in zip folders. However, the biggest problem people encounter is that the program won’t work because they didn’t know they had to unzip it or don’t know how to unzip it.
To get your hands on the most popular free-to-use open-source zip extractor, head to 7zip.org. Once you’re there, come up to the very top and choose a download type. They have 32-bit for older systems, 64-bit for more modern and newer systems, and ARM 64. If you have a more modern system, it’s likely a 64-bit architecture.
Once you’ve downloaded the software, double-click the 7-x64.exe file and give permission to install it. The default location within your C: drive program files is probably a good place to put it because it’s with your operating system. After installation, it’s ready to test on a zip file.
To open a zip file with 7-zip, just right-click it and come down to where your 7-zip is located. It’ll ask how you want it to be opened, and you’ll say “extract to” the file name. This will give you its own folder with all the software within it.
If you want to re-zip the file, simply go onto it, right-click, go back into the 7-zip, click the add archive function, and change the file type to zip.
That’s it! Now you know how to use 7z files on Dolphin. If you found this helpful, give it a thumbs up. If you didn’t like it, give it a thumbs down. If you have any feedback or suggestions for future videos, drop a comment down below.
