If you are a frequent computer user, you might have encountered the little sticky keys pop up that appears on your screen while you are playing a video game or doing something important. This pop up asks if you want to turn on sticky keys and keeps coming back even if you answer no. It can be frustrating to deal with this never-ending cycle of the pop-up. But don’t worry, in this tutorial, we will show you how to disable the sticky or filter key pop-up dialog windows on your Windows computer.
To start with, let’s see how you can receive the sticky key pop-up. It usually pops up if you hit the shift key five times in a row within a very short interval. To disable this pop-up, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open Control Panel
Open the Start menu and type in Control Panel in the search bar. Click on the Control Panel option that appears.
Step 2: Select Ease of Access
Make sure the view by option on the top right corner is set to category view. Then, select the Ease of Access option.
Step 3: Go to Ease of Access Center
Click on the Ease of Access Center option to proceed.
Step 4: Turn off Sticky and Filter Keys
Scroll down to the “Make the keyboard easier to use” section. Here, uncheck the boxes for Turn on Sticky Keys and Turn on Filter Keys.
Step 5: Turn off Pop-up
To ensure the pop-up does not come back, click on the Setup Sticky Keys option. Uncheck the box that says “Turn on Sticky Keys when shift is pressed five times”. Click on Apply and OK.
Step 6: Repeat for Filter Keys
Click on the Setup Filter Keys option and uncheck the box that says “Turn on Filter Keys when right shift is pressed for 8 seconds”. Click on Apply and OK.
That’s it. You have successfully disabled the sticky keys pop-up on your Windows PC. Now, no matter how many times you click on the shift key or trigger the filter key, it should not disturb you anymore. We hope this tutorial was helpful to you. Thank you for reading!
