How to Use Echo Glow: A Smarter Nightlight

If you’re looking for a nightlight that’s a lot smarter than your average one, then the Echo Glow might just be what you need. Tech Steve brings us a tutorial on how to use the Echo Glow, which can be used by itself or controlled from the Amazon Echo app.

The Echo Glow is compatible with any Amazon Alexa device. Inside the box, you’ll find the unit, a power supply, and an instruction manual. The sphere measures 3.9 inches by 3.9 inches and has a Kelvin of 2600K. You’ll also find a barcode on the bottom, which is necessary when setting up the application.

To turn it on, you can easily press the button on the back. To change the color, simply tap on it. However, to program the light, you’re going to need an Amazon Alexa device like the Amazon Dot.

From your smartphone, click on the Amazon Alexa app and press on device at the bottom. Then, hit the plus in the top corner and press on add device. Scroll down to the bottom and select Echo Glow. Press on it and then press next. Scan the barcode on the bottom of the unit, and once it’s connected, give it a name and press continue.

From the main screen, you can turn the light on and off, change the brightness from 1% to 100%, and change it to different colors. You can also choose different modes like campfire, Christmas, and others. Under tap, you can choose if you can tap it to change colors or leave that disabled. You can also create routines like having it turn on when you get home or create a sunset when you wake up.

To get the most out of this light, you’ll want to set up a routine. From the Amazon Alexa app, hit the three lines in the corner and press on routines. Then, create a routine and give it a name. Set a timer and choose a time. You can also choose if you want to repeat it.

Next, give it an action, like having Alexa say good morning. Then, choose another action and go to where you see smart home. Press on lights and then Echo Glow. Choose a color and press save.

Finally, choose what device that’s going to talk to the command, and press save. Now, you can hit the play button and see the routine in action.
