For those on a Mobile Share or Unlimited plan, the International Day Pass is a great option. By adding this feature to your account, you’ll get unlimited talk and text while visiting over 100 countries. Instead of being charged per megabyte for data, you’ll only pay a low daily fee that covers all data used by a device in a 24-hour period. Another option for international travel is to add an AT&T Passport package to each device that will be traveling. These packages are good for at least 30 days or as long as needed. With this feature, you’ll receive free Wi-Fi at any AT&T hotspot worldwide. Simply download the AT&T Global Wi-Fi app to connect. You’ll also receive unlimited texting while abroad and reduced rates for talk and data going to Canada or Mexico.
If you have an AT&T Unlimited Plus or AT&T Unlimited Choice plan, you get unlimited talk and text within and between the US, Canada, and Mexico. You’ll have access to your domestic data plan while in Canada or Mexico with no roaming charges. It’s as if you’re using your plan at home, but while in Canada or Mexico. Other calling plans may be eligible to add the Roam North America feature to receive the same roaming benefits. Check the My AT&T app to see if your current plan is eligible.
If an international travel feature isn’t added to a device, regular roaming and long-distance rates will apply. It’s important to note that if your device is running apps in the background, you can still be billed for data. This could be due to updates, cloud syncing, and other things.
