The process is relatively easy and straightforward. First, open the phone settings by finding the settings in your list of apps. Once you get into the Android settings, scroll down until you see Google. Select Google, and once Google opens, scroll down until you see search assistance and voice. Select that and then go to Google Assistant.
Once Google Assistant opens, select assistant and scroll down until you see assistant devices and select your phone. This will open up the settings for Google Assistant on your Android phone. All you need to do is toggle off the option that says Google Assistant, and that will turn off Google Assistant on your phone.
Now, when you go back to your home screen and you hold down the home button, it will no longer open Google Assistant. Instead, it will inform you that you need to turn it on first.
