How to Set Up Asus AiMesh for Better Home Wi-Fi Coverage

If you’re struggling with spotty Wi-Fi coverage in your home, Asus AiMesh may be the solution you’re looking for. This system allows you to combine multiple Asus routers to create a single Wi-Fi network with extended coverage. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to enable AiMesh on your existing Asus router and a new Asus router.

First, make sure you have a second Asus router that’s compatible with AiMesh. During the setup process, it’s possible to connect to the router wirelessly via Wi-Fi, but it’s recommended to use an Ethernet cable to avoid connecting to the wrong hotspots inadvertently.

Once you have your second router, access the user interface on your main router and click on the firmware shortcut. When the AiMesh icon appears, you need to revert to defaults first. Click on Administration, select the Restore tab, and click on Restore. It should just take a minute for it to complete.

Next, switch your main router to the one with more features. Andrew from Asus switched from RT AC 68 New to RT AC 86 year. The extra features will also be available on all extending modes. Complete setting up your access to the internet.

Now it’s time to update the firmware on the RT AC 86 view as well using the same process. Once confirmed, the AiMesh icon will appear. Activate AiMesh, select the RT AC 68 U as the extending node, and click Apply. When the routers are synced, click OK to finish the process.

Finally, move your extending router to a place where you need better reception. For Andrew from Asus, the bar was a great place to use because there’s open space and he can get great reception to the main router.

To make things even easier, you can manage it from anywhere using the Asus router app on your phone. You can even add new nodes just by using the app.

As you can see, the whole process is actually pretty straightforward. By following these steps, you can set up Asus AiMesh and enjoy better Wi-Fi coverage in your home.
