If you’re a proud owner of a Chromebook and you want to learn how to screen record without any added software, you’re in luck! In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to use the built-in tool that’s already installed on your Chromebook.
Before we begin, it’s important to note that this tool requires you to have the latest version of Chrome OS. If for some reason you don’t have the latest version, we recommend updating your Chromebook or using an older method that requires software to be installed. If you’re not sure how to do that, check the links in the description for tutorials.
To get started, go down to the bottom right of your screen and select the clock. Once the menu opens up, you’ll see a bunch of different options, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. You should also see a screen capture button. Select that and then go down to the bottom left and select the camera icon.
Toggle that over to “screen record.” From here, you have a couple of different options on how you can record your screen. You can record the full screen, a section of your screen, or a window. If you’re trying to record a game or something similar, you’ll want to select the window option and choose the desired window.
Before you start recording, you can also enable the microphone on your Chromebook to include your voice or any sounds around you in your recording. Just select the settings and toggle that on.
Once you’ve selected your desired recording type, move your mouse up and select the open area at the top. It will start counting down, and then it will begin recording your screen. You’ll see a little red icon in the bottom right of your screen indicating that your screen is being recorded.
When you’re finished recording, select the red icon to stop recording. You can then watch the screen recording or delete it if you wish.
