If you’re looking to record your favorite TV programs and watch them later, you might want to check out the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) function on your Hisense TV. In this post, we’ll take a look at how to set up the PVR function using a USB hard drive or a USB thumbstick.
First, let’s define what a PVR is. It’s similar to a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) in that it records and plays back television programs. However, unlike the VCR, the PVR stores the programs in digital form instead of analog. With the PVR, you can pause, rewind, stop, or fast-forward a recorded program, and it can record and replay a program almost immediately with little to no time lag.
To get started, you’ll need a USB hard drive or a USB thumbstick. Once you plug in your hard drive, you’ll get a window pop up on your TV. Click “OK” to open it, and you should see the details of your hard drive, including the size and amount of space left. Click “Exit” to close the window.
Next, try clicking on the red record button on your remote control. You should get a window to select your USB drive. You can then select the amount of available space you want to use for your PVR function. The TV will test to see if the hard drive is fast enough to be used as a PVR drive. Once it’s successfully tested, the window will close.
To start recording a program, simply press the pause button on your remote control. The PVR function will start recording the program in the background, and it indicates how long you’ve paused for and the program has been recorded. Press the play button on the remote control to resume the program from where you paused from, knowing that you’re not going to miss any of the program.
In playback mode, you can speed up the playback by up to 16 times, which is great to have when searching for that juicy bit. You can also record programs on the fly by simply pressing the record button on your remote control, just like a VCR.
You can schedule program recordings for up to 7 days by going into the TV guide, selecting the program you want to schedule to record, and pressing “OK” on your remote control. You can choose PVR or Reminder, which will remind you that the program is actually on if you have the TV on at the time and are watching something else. You can schedule it to do this weekly, daily, and any other combination.
To view your recordings, click on your home button, select media, and work your way to your USB stick and select the PVR folder. In there, you’ll find your recorded and scheduled programs. To play your program, simply select it and press enter. You can pause, play, and fast-forward, and if you press the arrow button on the end, you can actually shift through recorded programs.
And that’s it! You now know how to record TV screen with USB using the PVR function on your Hisense TV.
