How to Plug Something into Your Car

Have you ever received a product that looked great, but the plug just ruined the entire aesthetic for you? It’s a common problem, and it’s frustrating to have to deal with ugly, bulky plugs when you’re trying to maintain a nice, clean look. In this article, we’ll show you a quick and easy way to get around this problem.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the issue. The product that was sent to our reviewer was a touchscreen dual camera setup receiver and recorder. The plug that came with it, however, was a cigarette lighter – dual USB plug, which, frankly, looked hideous. Nobody wants to have a bulky plug sticking out of their car – people want everything hidden, tucked away, and looking nice and semi-custom.

So, here’s what you can do. Instead of using the ugly, bulky plug, you can cut off the trigger and remove one of its USB ports. Then, plug it into a cigarette lighter – dual USB plug, which you can bury under your dash. This will give you the option to hardwire your accessory, which would look much cleaner and nicer.

To wire this up, you’ll need a standard ring terminal for your grounds and a standard female insulated terminal for your power. The power source will come from your fuse panel – you can use either an ATC fuse or a mini ATC fuse holder. When you find a spot that works with your accessory, check both sides of the power with a test light. Whichever side is hot, you don’t want to use. You want to use the side that goes through the existing fuse.

Once you’ve found the right side, insert your terminal into the fuse panel, connect it to your female insulated terminal, and extend the wire out. You can then plug it into your accessory, and you’re done!

By following these steps, you can avoid having an unsightly plug ruining the look of your otherwise sleek car. This method allows you to hardwire your accessory, which is the way it should be done. No more bulky, ghastly-looking plugs!
