Have you ever received an email with a dot EML attachment and wondered how to open it? EML files are email files and there aren’t many programs that can read these types of files. If you receive a dot EML file and you’ve downloaded that file, all you want to do is open it and see what’s inside.
It’s always good to do a quick virus check before opening files that were sent through email just to make sure that you’re not opening a virus. Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is download a program called Mozilla Thunderbird. It’s a free program that you can easily find by searching for “Mozilla Thunderbird free download” on Google.
After downloading the program, just install it and right-click on your EML file. Click on “Open with” and if you don’t see Thunderbird in this first drop-down list, go to “Choose default program” and click on the little arrow down there. If you don’t see it under other programs, you can browse for it manually by going to “My Computer,” then “Program Files,” and selecting Thunderbird Exe.
Once you’ve opened Thunderbird, you can select the recommended programs to open the file just fine. And in case you had a photo in the EML file, it would open up the photo just fine and you could save that photo as a JPEG.
