How to Open EDS Files in RSLinx Classic

Are you tired of seeing those pesky yellow question marks inside of RSLinx Classic? The solution is simple – install EDS files. There are two cases for installing EDS files. The first case is when the EDS file is already installed on the device. In this case, simply right-click on the device and select “upload EDS file from device.”

For devices without the EDS file embedded, such as the PanelView +7.1 model, you will need to go to the device properties and make note of the device and EDS file. Visit ab.com and search for the specific EDS file needed. Once downloaded, start the EDS wizard located under RSLinx tools to manually add the EDS file.

By registering EDS files inside of RSLinx, you will be able to connect to your products and eliminate those annoying yellow question marks.
