If you’re like most people, you probably use Google Sheets to keep track of different tasks and events. But what if you could link your Google Sheet to Google Calendar so that every time you add a new row to your spreadsheet, a new event is added to your calendar automatically? That’s where Zapier comes in.
Zapier is a no-code tool that makes it easy to automate workflows across 5,000+ apps. In this post, we’ll show you how to use Zapier to connect your Google Sheet and Google Calendar apps in just a few simple steps.
To get started, you’ll need to create a Zap in Zapier. Click the button on the left-hand side of the screen to get started. Since we want our Google Sheet to trigger the creation of an event in Google Calendar, we’ll need to use Google Sheets as our trigger. Type “Google Sheets” into the search bar and select it from the dropdown menu.
Next, select “New Spreadsheet Row” as your event and click “Continue.” This means that any time Google Sheets detects that you’ve created a new row in your selected spreadsheet, it will run this workflow. You’ll need to authenticate your Google Sheets account with Zapier, but don’t worry – it’s totally safe. Zapier uses industry-standard encryption when connecting with each of your apps.
Before you fill in any data, make sure you have the necessary data in your spreadsheet. For example, we set up our Google Sheets tabs with a summary, description, location, start time, and end time. Then, under “Spreadsheet,” select the spreadsheet you want to use for your Zap, and under “Worksheet,” select the worksheet you want to use. Click “Test Trigger” to pull in some example data.
Now it’s time to create your action. Type “Google Calendar” into the search bar and select it from the dropdown menu. Select “Create Detailed Event” and click “Continue.” Authenticate your Google Calendar account with Zapier just like you did with Google Sheets.
Assign your trigger app’s data into the action app’s field. Select the calendar you want your data to appear on, and then select the appropriate data from your spreadsheet for each field (summary, description, location, start date and time, and end date and time). Click “Test and Review” to make sure everything is set up correctly.
That’s it! Now, any time a new row is added to your Google Sheet, a new event will be created in your Google Calendar automatically. Zapier can do so much more with these two apps (and thousands of others), so check it out. There’s a free trial available.
