If you’re an avid Instagram user, you might have noticed that your filters went away after Texas and Illinois passed some laws regarding facial recognition. But don’t worry, there’s a way to get them back. In this post, we’ll show you how to turn your Instagram filters back on.
Firstly, you might want to make sure that your phone is updated in your iPhone settings. This might not solve the issue, but it’s always best to keep your phone and Instagram app up to date before attempting to fix the problem.
To get your Instagram filters back, you need to go to your profile and click on the three lines at the top right corner. The menu will pop up, and you should click on “settings”. Then, click on “privacy”, and scroll all the way to the bottom. Here, you’ll see “new data permissions for face and hand effects”. Once you understand all of that, toggle that switch on.
Now, when you go to someone’s story and click on a filter, it should let you try it. If you have problems with a particular filter, you can try clicking on someone else’s story and the filter on their story. Then, you’re able to try it for your location.
That’s it! You should now be able to save all of your old filters again. If this works for someone outside of Texas or Illinois, let us know in the comments. We hope this post has been helpful to you!
