How to Get a Read Receipt on Outlook

If you want to ensure that your email recipient has read your message, you can request a read receipt confirmation from them. However, it’s important to note that the recipient must be willing to send the confirmation. Here’s how to set it up in Outlook:

1. Click on “File” and then “Options”.

2. Click on “Mail” and scroll down to the “Tracking” section.

3. Check the box next to “Request a read receipt confirming the recipient viewed the message”.

4. Keep in mind that you will only receive a read receipt confirmation if the person receiving your email has their email application set up to send them. If the person uses Outlook, they will need to have either the first or third option checked in their settings.

5. The first option is “Always send a read receipt”, which means you will always receive a confirmation.

6. The third option is “Ask each time whether to send a read receipt”, which will prompt the recipient to send a confirmation for each message individually.

7. Once you’ve made your selection, click “OK” to save changes.

8. To test that it’s working, send a test email to yourself and check for the read receipt confirmation.

When you receive the email, Outlook will display a message asking if you want to send a receipt confirmation. If you click “Yes”, Outlook will send the confirmation to you. The email will include details about the date and time the recipient viewed your message.

By requesting read receipts, you can ensure that your important emails are being seen and acted upon. It’s a simple and effective way to keep track of your email communications.
