If you’re a DirecTV user and you frequently encounter error codes, this post will help you understand the three main codes you’ll see on your screen and how to fix them.
Error Code 614
This error code comes up when you click on a channel or program that you’re not subscribed to. If you’re sure you’re paying for the channel and still get this error code, you’ll need to call DirecTV and have them resend authorization to your box.
Error Code 771
This error code is a signal loss issue caused by bad weather or a problem with your dish. If there’s a storm, you can either switch to standard definition programming or wait for the storm to pass. In some cases, you can switch to a different channel, but this doesn’t work for all storms. If there’s no storm and you’re still seeing the signal loss, it means something happened to your dish, it got out of the line, or there’s a failure somewhere on the dish itself. To check your signal strength, press the menu button on your remote control, go to settings, then satellite setup, and view signal strength. Your satellite receiver should show 70s and 80s to give you a picture on everything.
Error Code 775
This error code means that your satellite dish or LMB is not receiving power from your receiver or system. It could also be caused by instructions in the way or a cut cable. To fix this, check that the little black box or your main receiver is getting power (21 volts to the LMB). Look for obstructions, corroded ground blocks, or cut cables. You can also check your signal strength by going to settings, satellite, and view signal strength. If you see zeroes across the board, it means your dish is not receiving any power or signal from your system.
In conclusion, these are the three main error codes you’ll encounter with DirecTV and how to fix them. If you have other error codes or questions, contact DirecTV’s customer support.
