If you have a Windows 11 PC that came with S mode, you might be annoyed by the limitations on what you can install on your computer. However, there is a really easy way to get out of this mode. Keep in mind that if you got your laptop from your computer or college, or if you are not the administrator, you may not be able to do this. But if it’s your own laptop, it’s very easy to do.
First, open your settings application. If you have trouble opening the app, you can go through the user settings and then into your settings. Once you are in the settings, type in “activation” or “switch out of s mode” in the search bar. This will take you to the same option where you can change your settings.
Once you are in the Activation settings, click on the drop down menu where it says “S mode” and click on “Open Store”. This will open up the Microsoft Store where you can download apps and other software. Click on “Switch out of S mode” and then click on “Get”. You will need to log in with your Microsoft account and follow the on-screen instructions. It may take a moment or two for it to fully switch out, so be patient.
It’s important to note that the change is permanent, so if you like S mode, you might not want to do this. But for many users, this is a great way to get more out of their Windows 11 PC. If you have any other questions or need help with the process, feel free to ask in the comments section below.
