How to Connect a Fire Stick to a Non-Smart TV

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing a Fire TV stick. Before we begin, we would like to remind you that it’s advisable to use the power adapter to energize the stick instead of the USB port on the TV. In case the stick hangs, you can switch off and on the wall socket to reboot the stick. If you use the USB port, you would need to switch off the TV or remove and insert the USB cable from the TV USB port to reboot the stick.

To begin, locate the HDMI port on your TV and connect the HDMI connector of the stick to the HDMI port of the TV. If your TV is wall-mounted, you can use the HDMI extender cable supplied with the stick. Connect the male end of the extender cable with the TV and the Fire TV stick HDMI connector to the female end of the extender cable.

After connecting the Fire TV stick to the TV, it’s time to make the power connection. Connect the micro USB power socket with the USB power cable. Insert the micro USB connector of the USB cable into the power socket of the Fire TV stick. The standard USB connector of the USB cable will be connected with the power adapter, which can be plugged into the wall socket.

If you prefer, you can directly connect the standard USB end of the USB power cable with the free USB port of the TV. Locate the USB port on the TV, which is usually marked with a USB symbol or a label USB. The standard USB connector of the USB power cable can be connected to this USB port of the TV.

Once you have finished connecting the Fire TV stick to the TV and made the power connection, the Fire TV stick is ready to use. In the next video of this series, we will learn the complete setup procedure of the Fire TV stick.
