YouTube Music is a great music player, but if you’re coming from a different streaming service, it can be tough to learn. If you want to manage or clear your queue on the app, here’s what you need to know.
On YouTube Music, when you search for and play a new song, the service automatically loads related music into your queue. While this is great for exploring genres, you may just want to play single songs and end the queue according to your mood.
While there is no single button to disable this feature or clear the entire queue at once, you can clear individual songs from your queue and go from there. To do this on YouTube Music’s desktop and web app, view the currently playing song and queue by clicking on the arrow icon at the bottom right of the window. Once you’ve got your queue up, find and right-click on the unwanted song, then select “Remove from Queue.”
If you’re on YouTube Music’s app, tap on the currently playing song, then swipe up to view your queue. To clear songs from your queue, just swipe left on the unwanted song. While this might be a bit inconvenient, there is a workaround if you want to play single songs and build your own queue as you please. You’ll just need to create an empty playlist. Next time you want to play a single song and create your own queue, just add the first song to the playlist and play it. Your queue will remain empty for you to add to as you please.
Once your listening session is over, feel free to delete the song you added to the playlist. With these simple tips, you’ll be clearing your YouTube Music queue like a pro in no time!
