How to Add Sound to Animation in PowerPoint

Adding sound to your PowerPoint presentation can make it more engaging and dynamic. If you have animations in your presentation, syncing them with audio can make your message even more impactful. In this post, we will show you how to sync audio with object animations on PowerPoint.

Before we start, it’s important to note that in PowerPoint, you can only delay the timing of your animation to not more than 59 seconds. If you have a longer narration and you want your animations to start after 59 seconds, we suggest that you break your slide into several slides.

First, use the animation pane to reorder your animations. The animation pane is located under the animation tab. Use this panel to make sure that all of the animations are in the correct order. You can reorder the animations by clicking and dragging each of the animations.

Next, place your audio animation on the top. With the animation pane open, insert the audio file. During the show, you will see in the animation pane that by default, PowerPoint has added an animation to your audio. Click on the animation for your audio and move it to the top of the list.

The third step is to determine the timing of the objects. Preview your audio file and use the play and pause buttons to take notes of the time when you want the animation to happen or to start on the slide.

The final step is to modify the starting time of the animations. Click the animations tab, then select all the animations on the list. You can do it by clicking anywhere on the animation pane or pressing ctrl + a on your keyboard. Change their start time to start with previous. Click on each animation and change the delay time based on your note. You can either use the arrow or type in the seconds manually.

You can add an audio file to a slide with multiple animations by following the above steps. One way to add an audio file is by using the insert tab to add audio that was previously recorded or perhaps downloaded from the web. On the insert tab, find the audio icon, then click the arrow under it. You will be asked whether you want to insert an audio file from your PC or record audio using PowerPoint.

When you are done, your audio and animations should sync perfectly. Adding sound to animation in PowerPoint is a great way to make your presentation more engaging and memorable.
