Alexa, How Do I Look? Five Pro Tips to Customize Your Alexa Experience

Alexa is not only a virtual assistant, but it can also be your best friend. With a few tips and tricks, you can adjust your Alexa experience to fit your preferences. Here are five pro tips to help you get the most out of Alexa.

1. Whisper Mode

When you’re having a peaceful moment and don’t want to disturb the silence, whisper to Alexa, and she’ll whisper back. You can activate whisper mode by saying “Alexa, turn on whisper mode.” Now you can speak to Alexa with a gentle whisper, and she will respond in the same manner.

2. Follow-Up Mode

You don’t have to say “Alexa” before every command. Just enable follow-up mode, and Alexa will respond to your follow-up commands without having to repeat the wake word. You can enable follow-up mode in the Alexa app or by saying “Alexa, enable follow-up mode.” After you say “Alexa,” the blue light indicator will remain on for a few seconds, and you can give your next command.

3. Brief Mode

In brief mode, Alexa can turn on or off the lights, give you all the information you need, and play songs with just a chime. To turn on brief mode, open the Alexa app, head to the menu, then settings, and under Alexa preferences, select voice responses. Find brief mode and use the toggle to turn it on or off.

4. Explicit Mode

When you’re having guests over, and you want to set the right mood, you can keep a not-so-family-friendly song off your playlist with Alexa’s explicit mode feature. Just enable it in the app or say “Alexa, turn on the explicit filter” to keep your music safe for all ears.

5. Volume Control

Let Alexa get the party started with one simple volume command. You can tell Alexa to set the volume to a number between 1 and 10. Say “Alexa, turn up the music to 4” or “Alexa, turn up the music to seven.”

These are just a few of our favorite Alexa features that you can customize to fit your needs. If you want to learn more, just say “Alexa, what can you do?” and discover the endless possibilities.
