Have you ever left your Roku TV remote at home and couldn’t connect to the network because you were outside? Well, worry no more because there is a solution to this problem. This tutorial will show you how to use your Roku TV without a remote and wifi.
To do this, you’ll require four things:
1. Your Roku device
2. A mobile phone capable of creating a mobile hotspot
3. A secondary device that can run the Roku remote app (e.g., an iPhone or iPad)
4. Your home internet’s SSID and password
First, power on your Roku device and launch the Roku app on your secondary device. Since the Roku is not connected to your wifi, you need to enable the hotspot on your mobile phone. Go to your phone settings, click on General, then About, and change your phone’s name to your wifi’s SSID (e.g., ATT 200). Then go to Personal Hotspot Settings and change your password to your internet’s password. Click “Done.”
Next, connect your secondary device (with the Roku app) to your phone’s hotspot. Your Roku device will think it’s connected to your home wifi since you’re using the same SSID and password. Launch the Roku app and search for devices. Your Roku should appear on the list. Select your Roku device, and you’ll have the Roku remote.
Using your remote device, you can navigate to settings and change your network back to your home wifi. That’s it! You can now enjoy your Roku TV without a remote and wifi.
