Are you having issues with your internet connection on Windows 7? Resetting your network settings might just be the solution you need. In this tutorial, we will show you how to reset your internet connection and windsock catalog on Windows 7.
Firstly, left-click on the start menu and type in CMD. Right-click on the best match, which should say CMD, and then left-click on “run as administrator.” If you receive a user account control window, select “yes.” This will open an elevated command line window.
In the elevated command line window, type in “netsh int ip reset” and hit enter. If you have already reset it without restarting the computer, it should say that there are no user specified settings to be reset. However, in most cases, it should say that it reset the interface and ask you to restart the computer to complete the action.
Next, we will reset the windsock catalog. Type in “netsh winsock reset” and hit enter. This time, it should say that it successfully reset the windsock catalog, and recommend restarting your computer to complete the reset.
After completing both resets, restart your computer, and hopefully, the issue has been resolved. Please note that resetting your internet connection does not necessarily mean that you will have an internet connection when you restart your computer. We are simply resetting it to try to resolve any issues.
Thank you for reading this tutorial. We hope it helped you out in your troubleshooting endeavors, and we look forward to assisting you in the future.
