Are you having trouble opening a .pages file on your Windows operating system? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. In this tutorial, we will show you a simple and easy way to view a .pages file from a Mac operating system on a Windows operating system.
Step 1: Make a Copy of the File
First things first, make a copy of the file you want to view. Right-click on the file and select “Copy”. Then, paste it anywhere on your desktop or wherever you like. This will ensure that you have a second copy just in case things don’t go as planned.
Step 2: Change the File Extension
Right-click on the copied file and select “Rename”. Delete the word “pages” and leave the dot. Then, type in “zip” so the file extension becomes “.zip”. Click anywhere else on the screen and press “Yes” to continue to change the file extension. Now, you have yourself a zip folder.
Step 3: Extract the Zip Folder
We need to treat this zip folder like a normal zip folder. Right-click on the file and select “Extract All” to extract all of the files. If you don’t have the built-in feature that Windows 10 has in itself and if you have like a Windows 7 then you can use external programs like the 7-zip or winrar.
Step 4: Open the Extracted Folder
Now that you have extracted the zip folder, open up that folder and you will see a bunch of files which were originally that .pages file. There will be three folders which you don’t need to pay any attention to. There will also be three JPG files. The first one is “preview-web”, the second one is “preview-micro”, and the third one is “preview” on its own. The first two files won’t tell you anything because if you were to open that up, you can’t really tell what is going on. However, if you click on the first “preview” option, you will be able to see the document or the file that was sent from a Mac operating system on a Windows operating system.
And that’s it! You can now view the .pages file on your Windows operating system. Please note that this method won’t allow you to edit or make any changes to the file. It is only useful if you just need to view the file.
