Do you want to use your Surface or Surface Go as a second monitor for your PC? It’s easier than you might think. All you need is to make sure both computers are on the same Wi-Fi network, and then follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Click on the menu in the bottom right corner of your Surface screen.
Step 2: Tap on Connect, and then tap on “Projecting to this PC”. This will take you to the settings, where you’ll want to change the option from “Some Windows or Androids can project up to” to “Available Everywhere”. You can also turn off “Require a PIN” and “This can be discovered” to streamline the process. Take note of the name of your PC, as it will be needed later.
Now, move over to the main PC that you want to project to your Surface. Click on the same menu in the upper right corner, tap on Connect, and select your Surface from the list of available devices. The Surface will show up with the name you gave it earlier. Click on it, and then go back to your Surface screen. You’ll see a pop-up that says “Connect”. Tap “Yes”, and it will start projecting onto your Surface.
You can use your Surface as a second monitor and drag a screen over to it, or you can go to your display settings and customize how you want to use it. You can choose to see the same thing on both screens or extend your desktop across them.
When you’re done, go back to your main PC and click on Connect, then disconnect your Surface to return to normal. That’s it! With these simple steps, you can use your Surface or Surface Go as an external monitor for your PC.
