Using a Custom Animation Effect: How to Make Text Appear on a Slide by Letter

PowerPoint presentations are a great way to convey information to an audience, but sometimes they can be a bit bland. If you want to add some extra pizzazz to your presentation, you might want to consider using custom animation effects to make your text appear on a slide by letter. In this tutorial, we will show you exactly how to do that.

First, open up your PowerPoint presentation and navigate to the slide where you want to apply the custom animation effect. If you don’t have any text on the slide yet, go ahead and add a text box by going to the “Insert” tab, selecting “Text Box,” and then drawing the box on your slide. Type in the text you want to animate – for example, “My Cool Tutorials” – and increase the font size so it’s easier to see.

Next, go to the “Animations” tab in the menu and select “Appear” from the list of effects. This will apply the animation to the entire text box, causing it to appear on the slide all at once.

To change the animation so that the text appears letter by letter, click on the “Animations Pane” button, which looks like a list with a star next to it. This will open the Animation Pane, which shows you all of the animations that have been applied to your slide.

Click on the “Appear” animation to select it, and then click on the drop-down arrow next to the animation to reveal more options. Select “Effect Options” from the list.

In the “Effect Options” panel, you will see a variety of different settings you can adjust. Look for the “Sound” option and select “Typewriter” from the dropdown menu. Then, under “Animate Text,” select “By letter” instead of “All at once.” You can also adjust the “Delay” setting to change how quickly the letters appear.

Click “OK” to apply the new animation settings. You should now see the text appearing letter by letter on your slide. If you want to try a different sound effect, simply go back to the “Effect Options” panel and choose a different option.

And that’s it! By using a custom animation effect, you can make your text appear on a slide by letter and add some extra flair to your PowerPoint presentations.
