My Wireless Network Isn’t Showing Up: 5 Methods to Fix Wi-Fi Connection Problem on Windows 10

If you are trying to connect to the internet on your laptop and the Wi-Fi network is not showing up on Windows 10, it can be frustrating. There are various reasons for this error, including Wi-Fi problems with the network connection, incorrect Wi-Fi configuration of your router and computer, or Wi-Fi network driver issue.

Method 1: Enable WLAN Auto Config Service

To enable the Wi-Fi option to appear in the settings, the WLAN Auto Config Service should be enabled. If this has been disabled, it might be causing the problem. To fix this, go to the Start menu, type in services, and open it up. In the services window, locate the WLAN Auto Config Service, right-click on it, and select Properties. Change the Startup type to Automatic and click Start to run the service. Apply and hit OK. Check to see if this fixed the Wi-Fi issue.

Method 2: Update Wi-Fi Driver

In some cases, you might be unable to see the Wi-Fi option in Windows settings because your Wi-Fi drivers are obsolete. To update the driver automatically, right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager. Expand the Network adapters list, locate your wireless card, right-click it, and select Update Driver. Click Browse my computer for driver software, select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer, hit Next, wait for it to complete, and then check if your Wi-Fi problem is solved.

Method 3: Reinstall Wi-Fi Driver

This problem can be caused by a corrupted Wi-Fi driver. To check if this is the case, you will have to update the Wi-Fi driver of your computer. In such an event, you will have to reinstall your Wi-Fi driver by downloading the driver from your manufacturer’s website. Open up the Device Manager, expand the Network adapters list, and locate your wireless driver. Right-click on your wireless card and click Uninstall.

Method 4: Tweak Power Management

If the Wi-Fi option in Windows settings disappears out of the blue, this can be due to your card driver’s power settings. Therefore, to get the Wi-Fi option back, you will have to edit the power management settings. Open up Device Manager and expand the Network adapters list. Double-click your wireless card and then switch to the Power Management tab. Uncheck the Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power box and click OK.

Method 5: System Configuration

Type System Configuration on the search bar and click on the Services tab. Enable all, then click Apply and OK, and select Restart.
