AirPod Max ear cups can get dirty easily, especially if you have the silver or white ones. Fortunately, Apple has provided a guide on their website on how to clean them. In this article, we will follow the guide and show you how to clean your AirPod Max ear cups.
Firstly, you need to mix one tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent with one cup of water in a clean container. Use a toothpick to mix the solution. Then, remove the cushions from the ear cups and dip a lint-free cloth, such as a microfiber cloth, into the soapy water solution. Rub the cloth on the cushions and headband gently for one minute each. If your ear cups are still dirty, you can repeat this step for another minute.
After rubbing the cushions and headband with the soapy water solution, wipe them with a clean cloth that’s slightly dampened with fresh water. You can use the other end of the microfiber cloth or any lint-free cloth you have. Then, dry the cushions and headband with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth, making sure to remove any excess moisture.
The last step is to lay your AirPod Max ear cups flat to dry for at least a day before you reattach the cushions and use them again. You can set them by your windowsill for 24 hours. Keep in mind that you don’t need to wait 24 hours. In six hours, they should be pretty dry.
After 24 hours, your ear cups should look much cleaner. You don’t need to worry about cleaning the case itself. You can wipe it down with a microfiber cloth and soap and water or alcohol wipes.
