How to Use Remote Start Toyota: A Guide to Accessing Remote Connect Features in the Toyota App

If you own a Toyota, you can take advantage of the remote connect features in the Toyota app for a more convenient driving experience. In this guide, we’ll take a closer look at how to use remote start, door lock and unlock, vehicle finder, and more using the Toyota app.

To get started, tap the Toyota app icon on your smartphone and make sure that your country and language preferences are set. Then, sign in using your email address or mobile number and password.

Let’s start with remote start. With this feature, you can start or stop your vehicle at a distance, all from the convenience of your smartphone. To remotely start your vehicle, press and hold the start engine button for one second. The engine will automatically shut off after 10 minutes if the vehicle isn’t driven, and a timer will display the time remaining until the engine shuts off. To remotely turn off your vehicle, press and hold the stop button for one second.

The remote lock and unlock feature allows you to secure your doors with just a tap of a finger, giving you added peace of mind. To remotely unlock your vehicle, press and hold the unlock button for one second. Keep in mind that this feature can only lock or unlock all doors of your Toyota at the same time. To confirm that your vehicle’s doors are unlocked, tap “view status” above the remote services tile or the red notification icon on the vehicle image at the top of the dashboard. The vehicle status screen will show the status of the doors, windows, hood, moon roof, and trunk, although the features may vary based on the model. Once you’ve confirmed that all doors are unlocked, tap the “x” on the upper left of the tile to close the vehicle status screen. To remotely lock your vehicle, press and hold the lock button for one second. To confirm that your vehicle’s doors are locked, tap the red notification icon on the vehicle image at the top of the dashboard or “view status” above the remote services tile. The vehicle status screen will show the status of the doors, and once you’ve confirmed that all doors are locked, tap the “x” on the upper left of the tile to close the vehicle status screen.

The guest driver feature is another convenient option that allows you to control settings for other drivers who may be using your vehicle. You can set up driver setting notifications for up to five guest drivers, including maximum speed limit, maximum miles limit, and more. To adjust driver settings for another driver, tap “guest driver settings” at the bottom of the remote services tile to see the guest driver settings menu. To turn on the friends driver settings, toggle the enable button on. From there, you can set up driver notifications to your desired specifications.

Finally, the vehicle finder feature is a helpful tool that allows you to locate your Toyota no matter where it’s parked. To open the vehicle finder map, tap the “last parked location” tile on the dashboard. To see your current location, tap the arrow icon in the lower right corner of the map. To locate your vehicle, tap the car icon in the lower right corner of the map.
