If you have difficulty pressing multiple keys simultaneously, you’ll be happy to know that Chromebook has a built-in feature called Sticky Keys. This feature was developed to make it easier for individuals with physical impairments or young students who are still developing their fine motor skills to use the keyboard.
When Sticky Keys is enabled, control, alt, shift, and search become sticky, so you don’t need to press two keys at the same time. Typing requires a lot of coordination, and with Sticky Keys, you only need to press one key to activate the keyboard’s functions and features.
To turn on Sticky Keys on your Chromebook, follow these steps:
1. Open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook.
2. Click the three vertical dots in the right-hand corner of the screen.
3. Find “settings” at the bottom and click on it.
4. On the left-hand side of the screen, scroll to “accessibility” and click.
5. Find “manage accessibility features” in the center of the screen.
6. Scroll down through the list until you find “Sticky Keys,” located under “keyboard and text input.”
7. Click the toggle button on the right side of the screen to enable Sticky Keys.
8. When Sticky Keys are enabled, a transparent notification will appear in the top left corner of the screen when you press the control, shift, alt, or search keys.
9. To turn Sticky Keys off, simply hit the toggle button again.
Sticky Keys is a helpful feature that can make typing easier and more accessible for many people. With just a few clicks, you can turn it on or off on your Chromebook.
