If you’re an iPhone user, you might have noticed that when you receive pictures in the Messages app, they show up in the Photos app too. While some might find this feature convenient, others might prefer their Photos app to only have pictures that they took. Luckily, Apple has provided some quick and easy options to remove shared pictures from your Photos app.
First, you can tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the Photos app, and you’ll see two options: “Your Photos Only” and “Yours and Shared.” When “Yours and Shared” is selected, you’ll see pictures that were taken on your phone as well as those shared through iMessage. If you change the setting to “Your Photos Only,” the shared pictures will be removed, and only the pictures that you took will remain. You can always change the setting back if you change your mind.
If you’re sure that you don’t want shared pictures to show up in your Photos app, you can turn off this feature altogether. Open the Settings app, scroll down to Messages, and select “Shared with You.” Automatic sharing is turned on by default for Safari, Photos, and Podcasts, but you can disable sharing individually for each app or turn off automatic sharing entirely.
With these quick and easy steps, you can easily manage whether shared pictures show up in your Photos app or not. Now you can enjoy a more personalized and organized Photos app that only contains the pictures you took.
