If you’re an iTunes user, you might be interested in sharing your iTunes library between devices. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to share your iTunes library between computers, iPhones, and Android phones.
There’s only one caveat – all devices that you want to share the iTunes library with need to be on the same network. It can be your home network or a friend’s network, or even a VPN going out into your wind to get into your land.
There are two things you need to do to enable sharing across all types of devices. The first step is to enable home sharing. Open iTunes, go to File, Home Sharing, and turn on Home Sharing. Then, log in to your Apple account. Wait for a few seconds and let it connect. You should see an approval message that Home Sharing is on. Click “OK.”
The next thing to do is to share your iTunes library. Go to iTunes Preferences, and select the Sharing tab. Make sure that the checkbox for “Share my library on my local network” is checked off. You can also choose to share specific items in your library or the entire library.
To share your iTunes library with Android devices, you need to enable file sharing. Go to your system preferences, open the Sharing folder, and check off file sharing. Add a folder to your shared folders, and select the folder containing your music library. Make sure your user account has read and write permission.
After completing the above steps, you can check whether it works by signing in with each of the devices. On Windows, go to iTunes and select the Home Sharing icon. On iPhones, go to the Apple Music app and check the “Home Sharing” section. For Android devices, use any file explorer (e.g., VLC), and select the music folder shared from your computer.
