We’ve all been there – in a rush, we quickly swipe away a notification without paying attention to what it was for. Later, when we want to see what we missed, we find it hard to locate. Whether it was a message on Facebook Messenger, a signal, or any other app, it can be challenging to find the log of all your notifications on an Android phone.
In this article, we’ll show you two ways to find this log – either by using the built-in feature or a third-party app.
If you own a smartphone that runs on stock Android, then you should be able to use the notification log in the operating system. However, while the ability to see a notification history has been a feature in Android for several years, it’s not exactly easy to find. You won’t find it on the normal setting menu, but have to use a widget instead.
To enable the developer mode, go to settings and then about phone. From here, tap on root number seven times to get developer options enabled. Now go back to the home screen, tap, and hold on an empty space on the home screen or any of its neighboring pages. Tap on widgets, scroll down the list until you find the one called setting, tap and hold this to select, then drag it to the home screen and drop it here.
Immediately, you will be able to see a list of options; scroll down until you find the notification log and tap that. Now you should see a new icon on your home screen. Tapping this will open the history of all the notifications, making it much easier to find them in the future.
If this method doesn’t work out, or you want to use a device that does not run a stock Android version, then there is a good chance you won’t be able to find the widget mentioned above. Not to worry, though, as there are various apps that can achieve the same thing. Some of the best apps are Notification History Log, Notification Log, and Our Notification. These are often free or ad-supported, and if you prefer the premium version, it’s just a matter of picking the one you like and installing it on your device.
Once installed, grant permission to read complications, and you should start to see the history filled up. Obviously, they won’t be able to see notifications that arrive before that was installed, but any future misses will be recorded.
We hope this article was helpful in showing you how to see notification history on your Android phone, and you won’t miss out on important alerts anymore.
