How to Reply Above the Line in Gmail

Replying to an email chain can be a daunting task, especially when you want to include a specific part of the conversation. In this post, we’ll show you how to reply to an email and include a certain part of the email while cutting out the rest of the email chain.

Firstly, select the email you want to reply to, and open it. If it’s an email chain, there may be multiple messages and complex conversations. Let’s say you want to reply to a certain section of the email.

To do this, start by deselecting any selected text and hit reply. Then press CTRL+A on your keyboard to select everything in the email chain. Use your keyboard’s arrow keys to locate the specific sentence or section you want to reply to.

Once you’ve found it, click before the sentence and drag to select everything before it. Then hit the Delete key on your keyboard to cut everything before the sentence. Repeat the process for everything after the sentence.

Now you have the specific section of the email you want to reply to. For good editing practice, add a greater than sign before your reply. Write your email, and when you’re ready to send, click send.

And that’s it! You’ve successfully replied to an email and included the specific part you wanted. If you have any questions or comments, leave them in the comments section below.
