How to Play Piano on GarageBand with Keyboard

Playing the piano is a rewarding experience that can seem daunting at first. But with the help of the free program GarageBand, learning to play the piano becomes much more accessible. In this article, we will guide you through the basics of using GarageBand to practice playing the piano with a keyboard.

First, it’s important to understand that music follows a set of rules that can be learned and experimented with. And the best news is that anyone can learn music. You don’t need to be a professional musician to enjoy making sounds on a keyboard.

When you open GarageBand, you’ll see a lot of different kinds of presets. The one you want is called “keyboard collection,” which has the piano stuff in it. It’s the easiest one to use.

Once you’ve selected your preset, click on the grand piano to hear its classical sound. If you don’t hear any sound, go up to “window” and select “show keyboard” or “show musical typing” to start making music.

Musical typing is super cool because it looks like a piano. You can press on your computer keyboard like the “A” button, and a little music will come out. You can even press multiple keys at once.

GarageBand also made the section blue to show the section of an actual piano that you would be playing on. If you want to go down, press “Z,” and you’ll get a low sound. If you press “X,” you’ll go up on the keyboard and get a higher sound.

To keep time while practicing, use the metronome icon, which is a click that helps you keep time. There’s also a panel where you can find different things like key signature, time signature, and BPM (beats per minute).

As a beginner, set the BPM to 70 and use the record button to play a little bit and then play it back so you can hear how you sound and see if you made any mistakes.

And that’s how you use GarageBand to practice playing the piano with a keyboard. Remember, the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the process of learning.
