Have you ever come across an Excel issue where you cannot open the file because the file format or file extension is not valid? If you have, then you know how frustrating it can be to try and access important data that is saved in an Excel worksheet file.
In this brief tutorial, we will show you how to solve this problem and access your data in no time.
The first step is to make sure that you can access the file location. Right-click on the file itself and select “Properties”. Make sure that “Opens with” is selected to Excel and the type of file should be XLSX or something similar. This will ensure that you have the correct file type.
If you are still having trouble opening the file, then try right-clicking on the file and select “Properties”. Select the “Security” tab and then select the “Edit” option next to change permissions. Here, you want to select the “Add” button and enter the object names to select. Go ahead and select the advanced button, give it a moment to load up and select “Find now”. Then go down to “Everyone” and click on it one time. Select “OK” and select underneath a full control. Checkmark inside the allow box here and then select “Apply” and “OK”.
Now that you have set the everyone here, just make sure everything is all checkmark under allow. Select the advanced button again and select everyone. Select the edit option and make sure everything is checkmark under full control here.
Close all of this and then open up your Excel file. It should be good to go.
We hope that this tutorial helps you to access your data quickly and efficiently. Thank you for reading!
