Are you tired of sluggish downloads on Steam? You’re in luck because we have a solution. By tweaking a few settings within Steam, you can improve your download speed. Before making any changes, it’s important to check your internet speed to ensure you have an accurate comparison. You can easily do this by completing a speed test.
Once you’re on Steam, navigate to the top left of the screen and click on Steam, followed by Settings. A new window will appear, and you’ll want to click on Downloads on the left-hand side. This is where you’ll find all the settings related to downloads.
The first thing to check is your download region. Click on the dropdown menu to see all the Steam server regions available. It’s best to choose the region closest to you for the fastest downloads. However, if the region you’re in is congested, try selecting another region that is still relatively close to you.
Another setting you’ll want to check is the “Limit bandwidth” option. If this is checked, Steam is limiting how much of your internet connection it can use to download games. Turn this off to have no limit and achieve faster downloads. Make sure to also check the box that allows downloads during gameplay, so downloading doesn’t pause while you’re playing a game.
If you’re still experiencing slow downloads after making these changes, try clicking the “Clear download cache” button at the bottom of the Download settings. Keep in mind that doing this will log you out of Steam, so make sure you know your login credentials.
By applying these settings, your Steam download speed should be noticeably faster. No more waiting around for games to download!
