If you’re a Chromebook user, you may want to switch from Chrome to Firefox as your browser. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to install Firefox on your Chromebook using Linux.

First, you need to enable the Linux environment on your Chromebook. To do this, select the clock and then select the gear for settings. Search for “Linux” and then select the first option for Linux. If nothing comes up or you do not have the Linux development environment, your Chromebook may not be compatible with Linux. Check the description for other methods to install Firefox.

Once the Linux environment is enabled, select “turn on” then “next” and “install”. It’ll take a minute or two to install the Linux environment. When it’s ready, the terminal will open up. To install Firefox, enter three commands: “sudo apt update”, “sudo apt upgrade”, and “sudo apt install firefox-esr”. The “esr” stands for extended support release, which supports all different Chromebooks.

After you hit enter, the installation process will start. When prompted, select “yes” to continue. When the installation process completes, you should see Firefox ESR in the launcher. When you open Firefox for the first time, it may be a little slow, but after that, it should run just like it would on a normal computer.

That’s all there is to it! If you have any questions, leave a comment below. Check the links in the description for more Chromebook tips and tutorials. If this tutorial helped you, please consider giving it a thumbs up.
