If you’re an iPod Touch owner, you may have experienced issues with your home button. It may not click, be unresponsive, laggy, or delayed. Fortunately, there are several solutions to get your home button up and working again.
Firstly, try turning the iPod Touch off and back on. This is a very common fix and can solve the issue if the home button is not actually broken inside. If this doesn’t work, the next step is recalibrating the home button. To do this, turn on the Assistive Touch by going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Assistive Touch. Recalibrate the home button by opening an app, like the camera app, and pressing and holding the power button until the power off menu appears. Then, press and hold the home button until the lock screen appears. If your physical home button is unresponsive, try pressing and holding the home button via the Assistive Touch instead.
If recalibrating the home button doesn’t work, it’s possible that dirt, grime, lint, hand lotion, or suntan lotion may have gotten into the crevice of the home button, causing it to get stuck or jammed. To fix this, power down the iPod and use rubbing alcohol to clean the home button. Dab your finger in rubbing alcohol and circle around the crevice, pushing the button in and out repeatedly. Then, clean it up with a towel or paper towel and try clicking the home button again. If it’s still not working, try using a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean the crevice.
If all the above steps fail, try going through every single step again. Sometimes, it takes multiple attempts to fix the home button. At least 50% of iPod Touch owners are able to fix their home button with these solutions. Let us know which method worked for you!
