How to Fix When Your Network Drive Shows as Media Device on Windows 10

If you’re having trouble with your network drive not being visible on your Windows 10 computer, don’t worry. In this quick tutorial, we’ll show you how to resolve this issue.

First, open the Start menu and type in “Network.” Click on “Network Proxy Settings,” scroll down and click on “Status,” then click on “Change Adapter Options.” Right-click on your adapter (Ethernet or Wireless) and select “Properties.”

Click on “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4)” and select “Configure.” Click on “Properties” and make sure that “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically” are selected. Click on “OK.”

Next, go back to the previous screen and click on “Sharing options for the network.” Expand the “Private view” and make sure that “Network discovery” is turned on and “Automatic setup of network connected devices” is checked. If it’s turned off, turn it on and click on “Save Changes.”

Now, open the Start menu and type in “Programs and Features.” Under “Settings,” click on “Turn Windows Features on or off.” Scroll down to “SMB” and make sure that everything is checked. If not, check them and click on “OK.”

Finally, click on “Restart now” and wait for your computer to restart. Once it’s done, your network drive should be visible again.
