Are you working with a large set of data in Excel and need to quickly find the smallest number? Look no further! In this post, I will show you how to easily find the smallest number between two sets of data.
First, let’s assume we have two columns – A and B – each with random numbers in them. To find the smallest number in column A, double-click on the smallest column and type “=SMALL(” (all caps). You will see a hint at the bottom of the screen on how to structure the formula. For “array,” click on column A to compare in order to return the smallest value. For “k,” enter “1” to find the smallest number, “2” for the second smallest number, and so on. Hit enter, and you will see the smallest number in column A.
If you want to find the smallest number between columns A and B, double-click on the smallest column, highlight both columns by clicking on A, holding down and dragging over to B, and then hit enter. The smallest number between columns A and B will be displayed.
To find the second smallest number, double-click on the smallest column, change “1” to “2,” and hit enter.
If you want to compare column A and B for each row, double-click on the smallest column, highlight columns A and B for the first row, and hit enter. Then, click on the cell and double-click on the black square on the bottom right to auto-fill and auto-correct the formula for each row. If you want to copy the values without any formulas, right-click on column C, copy, right-click again, and paste values.
There you have it! Finding the smallest number in Excel has never been easier.
