Connecting your Chromebook to your TV has never been easier. There are a few ways to do it, but the most common way is to use an HDMI cable. However, most Chromebooks don’t have an HDMI port. This is where a type-c to HDMI adapter comes in handy. Here’s how you can connect your Chromebook to your TV:
First, go to the settings device and then display. There are a bunch of options to customize your mirroring options. Choose mirror built-in display to start mirroring and not extended. This way, you can share both your Chromebook screen and video with the TV.
What if you want to connect your Chromebook to your TV wirelessly? It’s possible! If your TV supports Chromecast, you can use the built-in Chromecast option on your Chromebook to start mirroring a display. Open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook, click on the three-dot menu at the top right corner, and select the cast option from the list. This will show you a small pop-up with Chromecast devices available around you. Click on your TV, and then connect your Chromebook to the TV.
You can also select the sources drop-down menu to choose whether you want to cast a tab, desktop, or file before selecting the TV to share only that. To make the process a bit easier, right-click on the Chromecast logo at the top and select the “always show icon” option. This will make your cast icon stay on the top of your browser all the time, so you can access it easily. However, not all TVs support Chromecast. If you have an Android TV, Google TV, or even Chromecast, you’re good to go.
If you have a Fire TV stick, there are ways to connect your TV with your Chromecast with the Fire TV stick. Though the Fire TV stick technically supports Chromecast, the steps to do it, or the process to actually get it done isn’t as simple as say a Google TV or a regular Android TV. To start screen mirroring, open your Fire TV stick settings from your home page, select the display and sound option, and then select the enable display mirroring, which will open a waiting page to start screen mirroring from your other devices.
If you’re using an Android or Fire TV stick, then you’re out of luck with Chromecast because it wouldn’t work. Though LG TVs do support Chromecast sometimes, they only work mostly for YouTube but no other thing. One of the easiest methods is to buy a cheap Chromecast that’s either cheaper than your Android TV or Fire TV stick and then connect your Chromebook display to your TV and then just cast or mirror your Chromebook’s display with the HDMI cable or by just pressing the cast button like we did in the previous method.
In conclusion, if you already have an Android TV, Google TV, or Fire TV stick, just use one of them. But if you’re considering getting one of them, consider the HDMI cable instead because not only do you mirror your Chromebook onto your TV, you can also use it as an extended display, having two displays so you can do whatever you want like working and watching TV at the same time.
