Custom firmware running on your 3DS opens up a world of possibilities, including the use of game cheats. If you’re new to the scene, using Luma3DS built-in cheat engine can seem daunting, but we’re here to help.
Before we get started, make sure you have a 2DS or 3DS with Luma3DS 9.1 or later and Checkpoint 3.70 or later installed. If you need help with the installation process, check out our previous guides.
Once you have everything set up, open Checkpoint and make sure you’ve saved the games you want to use cheats for at least once. Checkpoint will display all the games with save data, and if cheat codes are available, you’ll see some options.
Select any cheat you like or press Y to select them all. Press B to go back and A to store the cheats. Remember that not all games have cheat codes, so you may need to try other methods like bootntr to find them.
To activate the cheats, open the game and press L-Down-Select to open the Rosalina menu. Select Cheats and activate the ones you want to use. Press B to go back to the game and test out your cheats.
For example, in Asphalt 3D, you can use the Infinite Nitros cheat to make races more exciting. If you’re having trouble finding your games in Checkpoint, try deleting the title.sha file in the Checkpoint folder in the 3ds folder on your SD card, then reopen Checkpoint.
With a little practice, you’ll be cheating like a pro in no time. Have fun exploring the possibilities of custom firmware on your 3DS!
